Anti-Drain Oil Line Valve, Miles Design

The current price for this valve (part # 13-400001/MD) is $72.00, as of 02/12/21.

Valve

This check valve is based on a design used by Velocette for many years. This spring loaded check valve opens as soon as the engine is started. The valve is 1 7/8" long from end-to-end, with little under 1" long body.

The following is a copy of the instructions that come with this valve.
Valve

There was a problem with the early Miles Design valves coming apart. There were only a hand full that actually came apart, but Miles Design changed the design and they will not come apart. The following pictures shows one of the new valves which we did everything we could do to try and break the valve. We put a heat gun on the valve until it was way too hot to touch and it still would not pull apart. We are confident that these valves will not fail and are one of the best anti-drain valves available.

Trying to brake the valve

We recommend having an oil pressure gauge installed when using any inline anti-drain check valve. For pricing and more information on the advantages of having an oil pressure gauge, see Old Britts Oil Gauge and Mount. If you do not have an oil pressure gauge, after you start the engine, you must check that the oil is returning to the oil tank for at least five minutes.

If your bike does not have an oil filter installed, while the oil tank is drained, it may be beneficial to fit our replacement cartridge-type oil filter kit (06-4283).
